Chernobyl motorcycle story: a work of fiction

The LA Times has a story and an interview with an Ukrainian tour guide claiming that "Elena"'s motorcycle ride through Chernobyl/Pripyat, which attracted quite a bit of attention over the last couple of months, is almost pure fiction. That might serve to dampen a bit the enthusiasm of some people about taking a trip there themselves. Then again, it might not - which is just as well :)

I think we're still going ... :) I just hope we'll have the time, because Boyan looks pretty busy, and I have a lot to do....

Btw, that's old news, I thought I've written in the blog about this... Or maybe just discussed it with Boyan?

I don't remember seeing it in your blog... And of course you're still free to go, just remember that most of those photos were fake, and don't expect to see all the things shown there :)

Sure, rumours that this was a fake have been floating around ever since it first appeared; it just seems that more and more proof is piling up.

If you read /. (you can search for it), she was featured in two(!!!) spotlights dedicated to her and her story alone.

The one that declared she was a fraud was a slashback nested in with a load of other news. News at its best. I'm sure /. pride got hurt bad. :-)

Not that I read that silly site anymore.

Eep.. and nobody yelled at me about the actual link to the LA Times article :) Note to self: <a href=""http://..."> will *never* show up in the way I mean it...
