How To Use The Race Stats Reports
Basics
The Race Stats reports shows profile type stats for particular races. You can set up the form for, say, 2yo Maiden Stakes and see comprehensive stats for that type if race.
The report will show summary information such as Total Wins, Total Runs, but also useful summary stats such as:
- Percentage of runners that were in the first three in the betting
- Percentage of runners that were placed on their last run
- The ratio of male winning horses to female winning horses
You can also see Winners Averages, such as the average SP of the winner, the average age, and the average draw position.
Once you have set up the form click the Generate Report button to see the full report, which will open in a new window.

Race Profile Stats - Comments

You can use the form on this page to create race profiles. For the races at Doncaster this week you just need to select Course = Doncaster and then try to match the race conditions as close as possible.
e.g. for the 1:50 Conditions Stakes race tomorrow you will need to set the form up for
Doncaster
Ages 2yo
Race Class 2 (B) to 2 (B)
Race Type Conditions
Race Type Stakes
Distance 6f to 6f
The more filters you set the more you will match the exact race and thus get to see the 'Ten Year Trends' for that race.
But it is much better to include a broader range of races so that you get a bigger sample size and stats that are more recent (rather than analysing data from one race last year through to one race 10 years ago). To get a broader range you can do things like
Increase the distance range to say 5f to 7f
Increase the class range (if handicap races include classes either side of the race)
If you want to view stats for specific key races then the best resource is our Racing System Builder. This will allow you to search for specific race names such as the St Leger. Here is a dataset that you can view to see the full Ten Year stats for that race:
Ten Year Stats for the St Leger at Doncaster
GeorgeThu 13th Aug 2020
Pittsburgh PhilThu 13th Aug 2020
The results of this system are:
66 wins from 230 runs
29% strike rate
£0.28 (0.1%) profit
Whilst the results are positive the profit is miniscule. Statistical tests state that the results are quite likely to be due to chance and thus could be anything. This is evident with the year on year stats, which show that the results have varied from a 30% profit in 2014 to a 60% loss in 2013.
I would not recommend following the system as it is or in any modified way. It already has the hallmarks of being backfitted because the rules for the price range, and number of runners makes no sense.
You can see the full report for the system via our System Builder:

Thanks for the kind words. Your system can be created in the Laying System Builder. Your filters can be open to various interpretations so I am assuming the following:
1. Horse is an odds-on favourite
2. The horse has only ever had one race in GB on the flat
3. That first race was a Maiden race, and in it the horse finished second or third
You can see the report for this laying system here:
https://www.flatstats.co.uk/laying-system-builder.php?snapshot_id=30281 Odds-On Fav, LTO Maiden Placer
Click the Full BSP button to see the results. It does return a very small profit but the statistical indicator (Archie) is stating that the results are due to chance and could be anything. You can see that in the year on year stats where some years the system has produced profits as high as 20% but in other years a loss of 20%.
It could be possible to improve the system by adding a few more filters. Take a look at the full report and observe that the system improves if the horse has a lower FlatStats rating than a higher one. This is where our ratings are confirming the horse is poor value and thus you should just lay those that have a low rating.
